*AUS* vs {AIB} Report -- Posted by Ace on Tuesday, August 19 2003
*AUS* took on {AIB} in a ladder match on the 17th of August. The map was Stream with *AUS* as VC first. The match kicked off after a short delay in getting the full 8 players from {AIB} into the server. The first 15minutes of the round had *AUS* marginally on top mounting significant pressure. As with most matches it took both teams 15mins or so to get into the groove...once *AUS* did they were able to grab the flag and score the first point of the match. Well done Fate. Not much changed after the first point as *AUS* continued to make runs at the US flag only to be taken down on a few occasions. However in the last 5 minutes Paul got the breakthrough and scored the second point of the match. The round ended 2-0 to *AUS*.
The first round was a solid start for *AUS* and were ready to get the second underway as US. Unfortunately a few of the {AIB} 56kers were not happy with the lag they were experiencing and wanted to play on the backup DC server. After a mixup with passwords and server names eventually the Public DC server was passworded and both teams entered. Pings were not much better then in the *AUS* server and just before the round started DC's admin closed the server. *AUS* apologizes for taking it upon themselves to use a public server for the match and after 30minutes of running around both teams promptly ended up back in the *AUS* server. An {AIB} player had the nerve to comment on the matches organization. "E for Organization" is what was stated. I'm sure the person in question has never tried to organize two teams compromising of around 16 people while still setting up servers and relaying the information back and forth. I held my tongue though and told {AIB} to get in so we could start the match. While waiting, requests to "Remain in you spawn" were ignored by some {AIB} members. Making it all the more harder to organize our own squad.
Eventually the round did get underway and *AUS* took charge almost immediately. In perhaps the most determined fashion ever *AUS* capped twice in under 5 minutes. This seemed to be the final straw as 2 {AIB} members left without reason. *AUS* ignored this and continued to play a match that had now become a major dissapointment. Although myself and Paul left in order to retain some fairness in the teams. The round ended 9-0 to *AUS*.
It was obvious that {AIB} 56kers were experiencing lag...but for them to blame either us or the server is absurd. It seems that it was more of a problem because this was a competitive match then if it was the usual *AUS* vs ALL format. I don't recall hearing any complaints in those public servers. Either way *AUS* has reviewed its match policy. So here it is:
*AUS will no longer play any newer clans that cannot assure their team will remain in the match for the ENTIRE DURATION. Having to drop my own players after they have rushed home to make the match is not only unfair, but unacceptable. We play matches for the fun and we do not have the time to deal with any whinging. This is not the bloody olympics people...its a game. So next week *AUS* will play [SASR] who have already proven to be a reliable team and will also allow matches against {RKn} and [Z]. Tag and ADP are also on the cards depending on their activity in Vietcong. All the past matches for *AUS* have been nothing but problems so no longer will we risk playing newer clans and even some old ones that still are not able to field a team for a match. It makes you wonder what people think clans are. This is not all directed at {AIB}...most of their members are standup guys and in no way do *AUS* think any less of them. Unforunately the immaturity of a few ruin it for the rest. Best of luck in your future matches.

Tonight *AUS* faces {AIB} in a stream CTF ladder match. We are unsure on numbers due to this being AIB's first clan match, and they are still organising themselves. Good luck to both sides.
Also, at 6pm tonight (Sunday 17th August) the *AUS* vs All server will be up again, come in and take us on.

*AUS* vs DC -- Posted by Ace on Thursday, August 14 2003
On Sunday the 10th of August, round 1 of the *AUS* vs DC tri series began. Problems struck DC's lineup as they were only able to field 6 players for the match, much to the disappiontment of *AUS*. Sorry to the guys who had to pull out to compensate the now 6v6. The match did get underway pretty much on time however and it was a tight battle for the first 10 minutes. *AUS* seemed comfortable in their attack...while the defence experienced very little opposition. The flag was reached a few times, but DC were able to keep it from leaving the bay until just after the halfway mark. Congratulations to Kaj on scoring the flag...a great debut at *AUS*. The round ended 1-0 to *AUS*.
Round 2 started with even more dissapointment then the first. DC were now down to 5 players. However this time *AUS* agreed not to drop another player and simply continue the match, DC did not object. As VC *AUS* piled on the pressure and never relented. Numerous runs were made at the flag with the end result coming at 3 caps for Justice. Well Done. Nyx, also on his debut showed some rock hard defence skills, who together with Cow Killer never let DC have a sniff at scoring. The match ended 4-0 to *AUS*.
The tri series has subsequently been cancelled. It is unfortunate DC were not able to get a full team...perhaps in the future we can try it all again. Thanks for the game DC, and best of luck in future matches.
*AUS* vs DC Tri Series! -- Posted by Ace on Sunday, August 10 2003
The following 3 weeks are going to be action packed. *AUS* and DC have setup a 3 match series to be played on the following maps in order: Stream, Storm, NVABase. Matches will be played the same as in the past with two 30minute rounds in CTF. The winners will be the best of three. Can u say origin!?
Any other clans that either want to do something similar are welcomed and *AUS* will also consider having more then the one match per week in order to accomodate other clans that have wished to challenge. You know who you are.
*AUS* vs [Z] Match Report -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Tuesday, August 5 2003
On the 3rd of August, *AUS* played [Z] in a friendly scrim. The map was waterfall CTF and as expected both clans were ready to rock at 7:30pm. Thx Z, must of been the first match we have had that didn't start at least 30minutes late! And this was with Gamespy being down! Paul*AUS* offered to host the scrim as past 10man servers ran without a hitch...however it was not our night and the server lagged severly. Being a fun match we continued to play through the lag and *AUS* took the place as US for the first round. Perhaps through our experience of playing laggy games all the way through the demo days *AUS* were able to get on top of [Z]. The round ended 8-0 in favour of *AUS* as they rarely held up the pressure on [Z]'s spawn.
The next round was cut down to 3v3 as a couple [Z] players had to leave. *AUS* began from where they left off and the second round was played with a more light hearted approach by both teams. The round ended 10-1 in favour of *AUS*. Leaving the final result at 18-1. It was unfortunate that the game was overshadowed by the lag, yet we will be sure to secure a bigger server for the more serious matches ;-). Thanks [Z] for finishing both rounds and putting up with the lag.
