Match Report vs RKn -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Thursday, April 17 2003
On the 13th of April, 20:00hours AUS kicked off what was their 3rd succesive match against arch rival RKn. As US first up compromising: Ace, Swifty, Paul, Overlord, Jios and Ranger Bob, we immediately let loose and attacked RKn's flag consistently throughout the match. There were many steals and drops in the first 10 minutes, showing RKn's great defensive abilities, however the attackers kept up the pressure and it showed as our defence rarely experienced a hiccup and were able to stop RKn from ever getting near our flag.
In the last 10 minutes Ace pushed up to the front while Paul hung back in defence with RangerBob. The two worked extremely well at the back together with Jios working greatly in forward defensive roles. RKn never even saw our flag, Well done guys. With 5 minutes left in the match the attackers; Swifty, Ace and forward scout Overlord, were focused on bringing home the flag once and for all. The run was made and Ace and Overlord were able to give Swifty enough time to make his getaway, however only great running by swift and with the help of the defence, he was able to narrowly avoid being shotnear the caves as RKn threw everything to stop the cap. The map ended 1-0 leaving our heads in front for the next match.
Kudos to Overlord for keeping the team aware of RKn's movements, and to Ranger Bob for his patience and rock like defence. Congratulations all round the cap brought everyone into play and showed why our team work is second to none.
In the second map, *AUS* went in with a defending frame of mind, and RKn with an attack at all costs one. The team was WildCat, Cow Killer, Justice and Fate on defense, Diesel and ICE CaNNoN on attack. It was clear that we were gunna be lucky to bank any flags, due to our lopsided defense favouring team and RKn's determination & great US Spawn defense. No sooner had WC capped the first enemy attacker was a full spawn storm. *AUS* knew this was coming, so had the whole team defending. When the last attacker of the charge received 2 bullets from Ice Cannon's siminov to the head we set off with our battle plan. Ice cannon tried in vain to coordinate attacks with diesel, who clogged up the TS airways with his criticizm of his 'shottily designed' AK-47. He also caused laughter amoungst the team when he ran away from a shootout with an RKn member. Ice was in 3rd person cam on his back, when diesel said 'sh*t hes throwing grenades' and ran off Ice cannon said 'turn around and fight him you chicken, dont run away' lol. Anyway, RKn used good tactics which we eventually picked up on, but the good planning was to no avail thanks largely to Cow Killers SVD Draugnov, and that he can mentally change an American soldier face into that of a cow. He ended up mooing it home with no deaths in the map. Fate also surprised us, in his first game he was carving up with his AK-47, even when his preference is US Sniper. WildCat ended up with the most kills on the scorecard, although that could be disputed due to server dropouts. Diesel managed a kill when he stole a dead americans m16 and fired into a bush. Ice canon who was the sole attacker in the last 10 minutes managed to rack up kills to rival that of WC, but was plagued with various dropouts from the server. Justice guarded the VC flag with his life, although not playing to his full potential due to a ping of over 500. All in all the game was played brilliantly by all, thanks to RKn for another no fuss, fun and friendly game. Cheers.

VietCong Delayed AGAIN -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Thursday, April 10 2003
I have been told by a worthy source that the release date for VietCong in Australia has been delayed until the 17th of April . Hopefully they will actually get it released then!
As a result of Aussie gamers getting sick of all these delays, not only in VietCong but other popular games. We have started a petition to make Australian release dates inline with the rest of the world! To sign it, or find out more click here.
*AUS* vs TFA, 24 hrs to go! -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Sunday, April 6 2003
Less than 24hrs to the big match between the undefeated Task Force Alpha and the also undefeated Australian Universal Soldiers. I look forward to this match as most likely our last in the demo, completing our tour of duty amoungst the Aussie squads (minus DHL & AVA, that are still getting their teams to full steam).
Good luck to all concerned!
*AUS* vs RKn Match 2 -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Sunday, April 6 2003
After our last match draw, this match was billed as a big match. And that's exactly what it turned out to be! In the first map we went in with a strong USA team. As this map is 2 maps with total flags winning, we hoped to get a lead of around 2 flags after the first map, it was a big ask but we gave it a shot. We managed to come out with a 1 flag lead in a 2-1 map win, was a very close game with Ace coming out of defense to snatch us that leading flag. The teams did a complete swap in the 2nd map, with the task:'DEFEND IT LIKE YOU NEVER DEFENDED BEFORE!'. And that they did, in a VERY tense map they managed to hold on for a 0-0 draw (it was so tense my heart was missing a beat every time I heard Diesel curse, and I wasnt even in the map!) Cow Killer had his sites trained on the flag, stopping anyone that went close to the bay, including Jios :p, CK took home the POTM for this map for his efforts.
Thanks to RKn for the great game, I see some great rivalry happening in the retail version!
