*AUS* vs [SASR] Match Result -- Posted by ICECaNNoN on Tuesday, May 27 2003
Well on sunday *AUS* took on [SASR]in their first VietCong Full Version match, and also the first VietCong match at thebattleground.org. It was a great build up to the match, with both teams training hard, to take out the number one spot on the Australia/NZ CTF Ladder at Thebattleground.org.
In the first map, after some server issues, we kicked off with our team as WildCat, ICE CaNNoN, Fate, Ranger BoB & Paul. We were VietCong first, and it was our first game as VietCong without Cow Killer as our sniper. Since we were playing on Arroyo, and it was a 5v5, we decided to not have a dedicated sniper but to go into the game hoping to get a lead. There was a lot of fierce battles around the bends in the map, with fate swapping with ICE CaNNoN for radioman, we succeeded in gaining immediate success, with an airstrike knocking out most of their defenses, the rest of the guys swooped, attacking the respawning SASR, and taking bullets to protect the flag runner. The flag runner got home, then after celebrating with a few "Booya"s we grabbed another flag, and to our shock, brought it home, with SASR obviously in a muddle after our flag, we ran home another... then feirce battles replaced the elation, we were under attack at our flag, a few times SASR took our flag only to be cut down by one of us. Then at the end we attempted for another flag, and brought it home. *AUS* taking a lead after the first map - 4-0.

Coming off the advantage in the first round, our team consisting of: Nads, Swifty, Beer baron, Gunther and Ace were all confident of holding the fight in the middle of the map and defending out the lead. The first 5 minutes [SASR] were able to mount a strong offensive in their push to get early caps. *AUS* fought hard to keep them on their side of the bend and thanks must go to Gunther who picked off any that were able to make it around with his ever trusty M1. Seeing as attacking would work as the best defense we began moving up the map and the next 10minutes or so saw the teams gaining and losing ground in the middle of the map. Such is the nature of Arroyo, the use of nades by [SASR] must be commended as it helped to keep us wary of mounting any mass forward movements.
As the round reached the half way point, *AUS* was able to take down a series of [SASR] members before they were able to launch their nade attack giving us a slight window to move the sqaud up just outside their flag bay. We held the area for a short time until [SASR] caught us off gaurd with an airstrike and took down all but 1of our team. This turn of fortune allowed [SASR] to get all the way to our flag and nearly make a getaway but were taken down by our sniper and those lucky enough to spawn quickly. *AUS* were able to cap shortly after when Ace made a run into the VC bay and make his getaway thanks to the great cover fire of Nads. This left [SASR] at a weakness and stuck in their spawn area so *AUS* massed again and flooded into the VC bay where Ace was lucky to get up onto the left highground overlooking the VC spawn points and Swifty covering from the entrance point for just long enough so Beer Baron could escape with a second flag.
With five minutes left of the round the battle continued in the middle with [SASR] still pushing as hard as ever with a never say die attitude. The round finished with *AUS* up 2-0 and the overall score at 6-0. Well done to all players, this was one of the most hard fought battles *AUS* has had the privelage of playing in for a long time. Thank you [SASR] we can't wait for the next encounter.

Our good friends at RKn have posted in our forums saying that some low life individual is impersonating one of their members, Blade {RKn}. Ice{RKn} posted:
"I've had reports from a reliable source that Blade {RKn} was seen in the SiD server last night and was continuously teamkilling.
I've discussed this with Blade, and he apparently wasn't even online last night, so it looks like we've got an imposter on our hands.
Just thought I'd let you guys know to keep your eyes out for a Blade {RKn} who is misbehaving. Could you let me know when and where he was seen if you do please.
If necesarry, Blade is willing to change his name, but I doubt that will solve the problem if this person is determined enough. "
